{Featured Friday 1.9.15} Designing Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine's Bridal Booth

Good Evening Friends,

 (Yours Truly, Jennifer Starr, J.Starr Stylized Weddings)

This is my first post of the new year, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share these photos with you....Let me start by saying how honored I felt that Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine asked me to design their booth for the Bridal Fashion Debut

My goal was design a booth that looked similar to their most recent cover.....so I designed a space that was white monochromatic color pattern, feminine, yet still embraced a modern vibe.

 (Kristen Butler & Fran Samuel of Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine, and Myself)

I was overjoyed to partner with The Flower Bar, as Megan and her team are crazy talented.  I just love how they can make flowers look classic yet "ultra cool" at the same time.

(Megan's Description for the Floral Concept):
The table will have monochromatic color palette of all white flowers. Modern,geometrical mirrored vases create a runner down the center of the table and will be overflowing with lush and fragrant gatherings of hydrangea, roses, orchids, and lilies.

(Eric Crook & Megan Carollo, The Flower Bar)

(Megan's Concept Continued)
To create interest (and little bit of height) silver stanchions with glass orbs and flowers are placed in the centerpieces with pops of white orchids. We continue the floral elements behind the table with suspensions of clear glass orbs containing white blossoms.

 The stunning tenting, pipe and drape, table cloths, tables, chairs, plateware and glassware were all provided by Classic Party Rentals.

My favorite part was the "WOW" factor that occurs as guests turn the corner...just beyond stunning.

 (Kristen Butler, Fran Samuel and Dawn Peterson)

Thank you so much to the fabulous ladies of Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine, I'm so happy that you were so pleased with the outcome.

(Haley Cwiakala)

And a very special thank you to Haley, my former J.Starr Intern.  Haley worked with me this past summer and is back in town for winter break....as she attends the University of San Diego.  She was a breath of fresh air and helped me immensely today...I can't wait to see all the fantastic things she does with her future.

And with that...I hope all my clients and fellow vendors attending/participating in this weekend's show have a wonderful time...and please be sure to stop by and smell the amazing flowers at the Phoenix Bride & Groom Booth!

{Wedding Wednesday} Introducing: Mr. & Mrs. Warner!

 Oh My... Where to Begin....

I met April about 3.5 years ago.  It didn't take long for me to realize that April and I have a lot in common....especially when it comes to our shared passion for the Wedding Industry.  April is a Catering Director at San Tan Elegante and she has coordinated hundreds of weddings.  So, when she pulled me aside at the Bridal Fashion Debut back in June of 2013 and whispered "I'm going to be getting engaged soon, and you're going to be my Wedding Planner" I took it as a HUGE compliment.

You see, April is a very smart girl and realized early on....when it's time to BE the BRIDE, it's time to BE the BRIDE...I was beyond honored....

The day was so lovely in every sense of the word... and as April said during her Wedding Reception "It didn't rain" as weather reports had teased about earlier in the week.  THE DRESS: April's stunning wedding gown was from Suzanne's Bridal Boutique.

THE GROOM: Oh Rick.  He is seriously one of the kindest Groom's I've ever had the pleasure of working with.  Rick knew he wanted his Bride happy...and he also wanted to make sure that his guests felt appreciated and loved. And that's really all that mattered to him...

THE DETAILS: April knew she wanted the look and feel of the wedding day to be "Classic Romance"... she knew that when Rick and her show their children their wedding photos one day...that everything looks "classic" and not outdated.  {Hanger was purchased off of Esty}

THE FLOWERS: There were flowers everywhere....in just amazing shades of white, cream, pink and blush.  Kristen Mandly, owner of Blume Events and her talented team really captured the feel and look that April wanted.

 THE BRIDE: April, how I love you so.  The first moment I saw April that day she was overjoyed.  I'm so thrilled that she and Rick both truly enjoyed every moment of their day.  April {especially being so knowledgeable and experienced in the Wedding industry} had so much appreciation for all of the people and work that went into this day.  She was truly GLOWING.

THE VENUE: Seville Golf and Country Club.... Seville is like home to me.  It was such an honor to be back there, it felt like no time had gone by.  Emily Glenn the Private Events Director was a true professional in every sense of the word.

The Ceremony Site was so elegant, complete with giant flower displays framing the walk way.

And swirls made of rose petals down the aisle....

THE WEDDING PARTY: What a fun group of people!  Pictured here is little Miss Payton, the Bride's adorable niece, doing a fantastic job!

THE KISS:  By FAR the LOOOOONGEST kiss I've ever witnessed!

 THE HAPPY COUPLE: They were just so happy to be Married!  Truly, so happy to have found each other.

THE BRIDE: How Gorgeous is THIS girl?

THE GROOM:  It was often that you see the handsome Groom simply gazing over at this Breathtaking Bride.

THE GUYS

PHOTOGRAPHY: It's always a blast when Still Life Studios captures your day! Matt Wheeler, Bridget Levi, and Richard Talbot {video} did an outstanding job documenting this day....and the Sunset that night was unbelievable!

THE GIRLS

THE RECEPTION: Just Gorgeous!  Southwick Linens provided the "Pewter Pintuck" linens on the guests tables, adding to the elegant look were black chavari chairs....topping the look off with centerpieces from Blume Events.

THE CAKE:  The decadent cake was created by Piece of Cake Desserts

 J.STARR TEAM:  My lovely and very talented Coordinating Assistants Renata & Melissa

STATIONARY: All of the invitations, programs, place cards and menus were provided by Definitely Debra making all of the beautiful details extra personable.

THE ENTERTAINMENT: Was provided by the talented Juan Sandoval, Owner of AZ Celebrity DJ

I had so many favorite moments of the night... if I had to pick my top three:

1.) The Kiss! So Funny!!

2.) The Song ~ April completely surprised her Groom and all her Wedding Guests by singing " At Last" {By Etta James}... for a little girl, she has some pipes!  She use to sing competitively in school...and on their first date Rick joking said to April " You have to sing at our Wedding"....and she did just that!  Her song brought the entire room to their feet, it was outstanding.

3.) The Thank You Toast: Yep, April made me cry {more than once}.  But especially during her "Thank You" Toast.  After thanking all of her family and friends, she thanked ME.  Her words were so heartfelt..I've never had that happen to me before, it was so unexpected and meant so much.

You see...the BEST part of being a Wedding Planner is that you make Life Long Friends in the Process.

The night ended with the Bride and Groom smooching in Rick's 55' Chevy Bell Air Classic Car, that was displayed at the entrance of the Grand Ballroom.

It was just an unbelievably beautiful evening... yes the amazing florals, linens, uplighting all contributed but what really made that night so beautiful has the visible LOVE that Rick and April show for each other.

Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to experience this with you...I wish you much joy, happiness, and trips to Disney!  Love you both!

J.Starr Featured Designer: Tantalizing Tables: "Bohemian Glam"

{Photo by Still Life Studios}

“Bohemian Glam” is an oxymoronic term…that currently only exists in the fashion world.  I wanted so badly to bring this trend to the Wedding World!  I felt a personal connection to this idea, as I feel  it’s the best interpretation of my business brand and myself. I was beyond thrilled to bring my vision to life!

{Photo By Erica Velasco}

“Bohemian Glam” is the idea of pairing a relaxed, free flowing….romantic atmosphere with a touch of sparkle and sophistication.  The most important element of this table design was the stunning Blush Glitz Linen that was laid flowingly across the Descano Wood Table. That was the center point of the entire design, where the relaxed setting of the wood table was "married together" with the glitz linen, essentially combining the two themes together seamlessly.

The table was adorned with Imperial Gold dinner and salad plates along with Operetta Champagne Flutes & Water Goblets, and Golf King Arthur Flatware.

“Bohemian Cupcakes” with mini tee pees and soft gold feathers on top, served as the table’s party favors.

The table was personalized with lovely Golden Peacock Feathers, Matted to Gold Foil and Textured Wood grain Menus and Place Cards.  Moss Wave Napkins added a pop of color to the table at each place setting.

The centerpiece was assembled by the talented Renata Hodl, J.Starr’s Floral Designer.  Renata used a combination of green, ivory, white, coral and teal Roses, Lisianthus, White Stock, and Queen Ann’s Lace to create a whimsical and romantic feeling to the table.

The tables was surrounded by Chiavari Fruitwood Chairs with Chocolate Bengaline Linen Chair Cushions with every other chair woven with Blush Shantung Chair Ties.

 To tie the entire tablescape together the table set below a canopy constructed of burgundy and gold swirl fabric. A very special thank you to Justin Starr for being the imaginer of the "canopy concept"....my very best friend and always my biggest supporter

 I  decided that as a Featured Designer and Guest Presenter, I simply had to join in the fun and embrace the “Bohemian Glam” look for myself...because well...

Dressing up is always the best part!

This was the third time J.Starr Stylized Weddings was invited to be a featured designer at the "NACE "Tantalizing Tables" Event!  It was a true honor and an absolute pleasure to be surrounded by so many talented people in the Wedding Industry....and of course none of this could have been made possible without the partnership of my amazing vendors {listed below}!  I so enjoyed this lovely night at the Firesky Resort & Spa...it's nights like this that I'm reminded of how very much I love what I do!

J.Starr Magazine Editorial Shoot at The Valley Ho

Well, if I had to pick my proudest professional accomplishment of 2012, this would be the day.  Yes, I'm very proud that all my design concepts came together so beautifully...but honestly I'm more proud of the fact that, this day, didn't cause me to go into labor...because, well....I looked like this ~ Yes, I was 33 weeks pregnant with twins.

 Truth is, I was really worried that I might not be up to this challenge physically.... but I had the Publisher of Arizona's Finest Magazine; Teri Ambrose and a vendor team of twelve different companies depending on me to pull this off.....and I did, with the help and support of my amazing J.Starr team. {Thank you April Kuebler, Renata Hodl, and Melissa Jonovich}

Teri had called me in October and asked me to be a featured Planner/Designer on a photo shoot for a 2 page spread {and cover!} for their upcoming June 2013~June 2014 Magazine.   I was thrilled, but as Teri and I starting talking we both realized we would have to move quickly on this project as my belly was expanding daily.   I was thrilled when she told me that the location she had chosen for me was The Valley Ho.  I then assembled my vendor team, choosing vendors that I knew could pull off this desired "look".

And with this news, my mind started spinning with ideas....ultimately coming up with the concept. Retro Romance. I scoured my bridal magazines, researched the history of The Valley Ho and the time period when it was first built, I hunted the internet....looking for retro inspiration....and consulted with several of my trusted industry artist friends....and of course walked the grounds of Valley Ho with my partner in creative crime, my love...Justin Starr.

Justin {being a professional photographer himself} and somewhat of a perfectionist...has a very detailed and critical eye.  Our brains work in complete opposite ways.....and though our conversations can get complex and frustrating....I'm always beyond thrilled when the ideas come to life.

I arrived on property at 10am and all the magic started to come together....and I was in my zone, my happy place, my element.  I LOVE seeing my ideas come together.... I can day dream about them in my head, make sketches and floor plans, but there is nothing more exciting than seeing it unfold in person.  And at 8pm that night, my dear friend April pushed me out the front of the hotel doors in wheelchair {I had borrowed it from my Granny just in case} with my arms full of gorgeous flowers from the shoot......a moment I'll always remember ~ April, I love you!

To see this spread in person and read the article that explains the vision and concept and all the beautiful details that went into this shoot, please pick up the latest Arizona's Finest Wedding Magazine today and turn to pages 88 through 91.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to our talented Vendor Team on the Shoot:

New Year's Eve Wedding~ Starr Style

Hi Readers!  I'm writing this blog one handed, as little Miss Emma Starr is helping me...we've got Bob Marley jammin....She's captivated by these stunning photos. {Hannah is fast asleep next to us her bassinet}

I was not able to attend this one, due to the fact that it took place my first night out of the hospital with the twins.  But I was surely thinking about it, as I knew it would be spectacular and I knew my clients were in fantastic hands with my J.Starr team!

Kiera and Brett are from Canada, and they LOVE to golf, so they just knew they had to have their wedding on a golf course: Superstition Springs Golf Club and they knew they wanted a PAR-TAY, so New Year's Eve it was!!!!

They went all out with the decorations.....I LOVE when clients want to really do it up!!!   All decor rentals were from Classic Party Rentals.

Kiera was just gorgeous, and such a sweetheart.  Her make up was done by Linda Valenzula and her hair was done by Lisa Berger.

All floral design was by Renata Hodl, with J.Starr Stylized Weddings.

Photography by Still Life Studios

{Emma's favorite photo~great taste already at the age of 2 months!}

At the stroke of midnight, they released chinese lanterns with all of their guests!

Thank you Kiera and Brett for trusting us with your most special day!!!
