Danny & Billy's Starr Stylized Wedding

It felt so good to be back in action! Danny & Billy's Wedding was my debut back from having the babies.  I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

Everyone was happy and calm, we were slightly teased by the rain clouds...but that didn't stop us.  And as always my J.Starr Vendor team pulled off a beautiful day!

Food, Fitness & Fashion Vol. 1

Okay, I have no idea where this post will begin nor where it will end.

But as my favorite quote goes:

Let me start by saying, I'm not in a any way a food, fitness, or fashion expect. AT ALL. I'm a professional Event Designer/Planner...that is what I would consider myself an "expert" at.

However, a big part of being successful, feeling happy, and looking professional...it's having a grip, balance, control, and putting forth effort in.....Food, Fitness & Fashion.

And well, I've just gone through some major life changes...

The biggest being having my twin baby girls and quitting my full time "day" job.  I'm now at a point in my life, where I've always wanted to be, dreamed of being, never thought it would actually happen.

I'm able to stay at home with my baby girls and run my business J.Starr Stylized Weddings full time. {well as "full time" as possible when having twin newborns}.

And in doing so...I've realized a few things.....

~I'm determined to lose the rest of the "baby weight" ASAP
~Even though there are days that I don't see many people, I still desire to "dress up" for work even with two babies strapped on my hips, as I know this will make me feel better and be more productive.
~I want "working out" to be a big part of my life, and my families.
~I want to learn how to cook more healthy options

So....insert...a new addition to my blog...."Food, Fitness & Fashion" Vol. 1. Maybe this is something I'll do weekly, maybe bi-monthly, maybe never again.... we will see. Anyways my hope is that it will achieve two things:
1.) More accountability on my end
2.) Some inspiration for others

So here goes...

Food:
I mentioned before that to take off the baby(babies) weight as quickly as possible, I'm doing the Weight Watcher thing.  I do best on set programs...especially with food  ~othewise I tend to overthink and overcomplicate. And I LOVE their online tools and tracking system ~ super user friendly and easy.

{Right before walking into the hospital to have the twins)

So far I've lost a total of 3 lbs.{Well, 30 total, if you're counting what I weighed at 38 weeks/ 3lbs since I started making an effort to take off the final lbs that are camping out)  Not much, but I didn't really start tracking my food like FOR REAL until this past week.  And I lost 1.8 lbs.  Go figure!
Discoveries:
1.) Tracking all foods correctly leads to weight loss {duh}

2.) There's a new drive through restaurant called Salads to Go, it's a gourmet drive thru restaurant serving salads and other healthy foods. It's located in Gilbert on Gilbert and Guadalupe. The menu has 10 salads comprising fresh vegetables and fruit chopped onsite, dressings made in-house without preservatives, healthful protein options including plant-based meat substitutes, some gluten-free offerings, a sensible kids menu and wellness drinks. It’s fast food, too: the salads can be assembled and packed within one minute.  I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!!  Super excited!

3.) Have you heard of Thrive? It's a little shop where they sell bowls and smoothies with acai. Acai bowls are blended frozen fruit with fruit juice, topeed with granola, banana, and a drizzle of honey.  They don't add any sugar ice or dairy, just acai sorbet, fruit and fruit juice. So yummy! It's located on Higley and Baseline.
Fitness:

Still not feeling totally solid.  I joined Lifetime Fitness, which is huge and beautiful...but I'm not hooked yet.  This past week I did Zumba again, and had a totally different experience than I did last time. In fact I got super annoyed and pissed and I left class after 30 minutes. The instructor was on speed...and what I found so fun the week before, seemed way more difficult this go round. Granted, I was exhausted from not getting much sleep the night before.  The luv bugs and I managed to get in a fast moving 45 minute walk.  So that's better than nothing.  I'm kind of really missing/wanting to back to Crossfit...I don't know. More on this later.

Fashion:
Yes I'm not wearing maternity clothes any more {for the exception once in awhile the jeans...they are soooo comfy...I should probably get rid of them so I'm not so tempted}  However, I haven't bought any new clothes, post babies yet.  But I did manage to "dress it up" twice this week...I had to document this to prove it....and to encourage myself to keep going.

Jacket: Mossimo/Shirt: Under Armour {It's actually a workout shirt, but I love the colors}/Pants: Merona/ Shoes: Diva Lounge

Jacket: Converse/Dress: Mossimo/Shoes: Merona

*note to self, stop shopping for clothes so much at Target

I don't really follow fashion as much as I'd like to...I'm not really a trend follower...I pretty much have two styles: Glam and Beach.  I dress depending on where I'm going and how I'm feeling that day.

I for sure desire to really revamp my wardrobe very soon and celebrate doing so! Getting dressed up is fun! Anyone wanna do a dress up challenge with me?  We could share fashion photos and ideas on some type of social media site?  Just a fun thought.  I could always use fun ideas for keeping it stylized :)

Confession....

CONFESSION:

Sometimes I want things so perfect, so professional, so polished that I avoid doing them all together.

I don't know that I would call myself a "perfectionist" so to speak.  I imagine those people to be very structured, super organized, very put together, {freak shows}.  I don't think I'm like that all...I just want some things a certain way, not everything.

Yesterday was a good reminder that not every get together has to be a J.Starr Stylized Event.  I struggle sometimes to find balance between professional me and personal me.

And since becoming a mom, I see things a little differently.... I'm more aware of how quickly time passes.  I don't want to be so hung up and things like I used to be.

So yesterday I had my family over for lunch.  My Granny's sister was in from Tennessee (they hadn't seen each in 15 years).  I wanted to create a special experience for them....but I had to surrender a bit to make it possible. {As, the majority all my event decor is still in storage}

{And sometimes those blury non professional cell phone snap shots are ok too}

So here we sat....in my current make shift dining room.  My home still isn't completly unpacked from the big move, there's not a single decor piece hanging on the walls, the dining room table is a plastic meeting table, the chairs don't match........BUT that's not what it's really about.  It's about all these amazing people in our home, whom we love so much, enjoying precious time together.

I think we're all like this in some ways...about certain things. But we can't let those hang ups stop us from enjoying life. And if we were sitting next to each other right now, I'd probably hold my hand up in the air hoping you'd high five me.

 Happy Wednesday!
